Introduction to Theophilus

Long ago and far away there was a bulletin board--a real, cork bulletin board--that would have periodically posted on it the verbalizations of members of a community of divinity students. Named for the purported recipient of St Luke's gospel and history, the board was called "Dear Theo." The writings would be submitted to an editor, who, if the writings were approved, would affix a three inch header and Xerox the whole thing onto legal-sized sheets of paper. The copies would be distributed around campus as well as posted on the primary location. The only requirement for a "Dear Theo" is that the writing not be disrespectful, sacrilegious, unkind, or obscene. Pretty minimal requirements, really. It didn't even have to be about theology!

Dear Theo was a valuable part of the seminary community. I hope this version of Dear Theo will be valuable to some of us.
